Cameroon’s Cricket Lionesses Set to Roar at Women’s Kwibuka T20 Tournament
Cameroon women’s cricket team, dubbed the Cricket lionesses, are gearing up to participate in the upcoming 10th edition of the women’s kwibuka T20 tournament in Rwanda.
The competition kicks off on May 30th to June 9th, 2024 and is organized to honor the one million Rwandans who lost their lives in the Genocide of 1994.
A total of 8 countries including host Rwanda, Uganda, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Kenya, Malawi and Cameroon will play in a Round Robin format, where each team squares off against all the participating teams to determine rankings before proceeding to the finals.
The top two countries will face off at the finals, while the 3rd and 4th placed teams will compete in a classification match.
Each match of the tournament will be played with 20 ovals consisting of 3 minutes and 6 balls per oval.
After the competition, countries like Cameroon and Malawi will be evaluated to determine whether they’ve earned a pass or fail mark. Those who pass will qualify to compete in the 2025 Qualifiers of the World Cup.
